My cousin Ashley was at Fort Lewis for a couple weeks for training so we went to Tacoma to see her. We went to dinner and then went to Point Defiance Park. At the park are some rose gardens that we walked through. There were so many different kinds of roses - but I guess that is the point of a rose garden. It's always fun to hang out with Ashley. It seems like she is often close to us for her training whether we are in Texas or Washington.
After seeing Ashley we headed north to Seattle to see my cousin Toni. We stayed the night at her apartment and then she took us out to see the sights the next day. We went to Pike's Place Market and picked up some good food. Denise wanted to get some produce and I found a place to get some good imported cheese and charcuterie. As we were leaving I mentioned that I was really wishing I could find some pain-au-chocolat. So Toni helped me find a French bakery that made it. I was so excited and it was so good - it is the first time I have found the stuff since being back from France. It also reminded me why I gained 50 pounds while in France.
Once we were done at the market we headed over to Alki Beach for a better view of Seattle. We walked out on the beach to sit and watch the water for a bit while Bryson played in the sand. We finished the day off, getting a bread bowl of chowder and some fish and chips at Ivar's.
We had a fun trip. Pictures are in the Heading North album to prove it.
